Microscopic crystal 'flowers' build themselves in a Harvard lab
Fri May 17, 2013
You beat me to it! I think these are Who-flowers, definitely! The fourth picture down, in particular, reminded me a bit of the field of flowers that Sully played with in "Avatar", but those beings are bigger than humans. I think we're all Whos...
Police officers pitch in for injured dog's emergency surgery
Sun Jan 20, 2013
Nice to see a "good-guy" story about the cops once in a while. I'm glad they stepped up and took care of the dog. Anyone want to bet that Philly ends up staying with one of them? :)
Bed Bath and Beyond recalls tissue holder on radiation worry
Fri Jan 13, 2012
Wow. If anyone wants a 100% made-in-the-USA tissue holder, convo me on etsydotcom at Lucky Star's Shop or damia1966. I don't have one for sale right now, but after this and the "respect the roll" ads on TV, I'm VERY tempted! Made of wool that's grown in the US, spun and crafted by moi, in the US. Or …
Is President Obama engaging in 'class warfare'?
Mon Sep 19, 2011
I said "no," even though I feel the question wasn't phrased properly. Full disclosure: I am a moderate Republican, albeit a non-wealthy one. I can't afford to hire a tax attorney/accountant to find all the ways I can cut my tax burden. But, even if I could, I feel like it would be fair for me to pa …
Cheesecake Factory, Denny's top group's worst foods list
Tue Jul 19, 2011
CSPI maybe has science on its side, but their message really needs help. I'm SO tired of hearing their edicts about food. "Chinese food is bad." "Italian food is bad." "Fast food is bad." "Desserts are bad." I know I'm generalizing, but so are they! The CSPI's blanket condemnation of various foods …
All along twisters' path, a struggle for survival
Sat Apr 30, 2011
Well-written, horrifying and heartening. I live in the midwest myself. An acquaintance of mine had her house destroyed by a tornado a few years ago, leaving only her dogs and a twisted I-beam. That was a single storm that tore through the Kansas City area, with a blessed few fatalities and injuries. …
Who is responsible for Social Security recipients not getting a cost-of-living increase?
Sun Oct 10, 2010
What I am sure about, though, is that it's a net decrease in income, because Medicare will NOT stay the same. I think that's a safe bet.
Would you try Latisse to get lusher eyelashes?
Tue Sep 22, 2009
Please! Vanity has its limits and to me, this goes WAY past what I'd do to improve a facial feature. I look the way I was made and if someone has a problem with that, it's their problem, not mine!
